  Art Appraiser  
     
  Lynn Carlson has been appraising art since 1996.  
She advises on the value of art to a variety of clients for as many purposes.
Highlights of her tenth year as an art appraiser in 2006:		  
 
  • a private collection of fifty-three objects of British origin;
  • Organizing the 3,000 object, four continent collection of a private college;
  • The amenable settlement of an insurance claim of a destroyed American painting and
  • The second update for a past client as a result of her donation of a contemporary American sculpture to a prestigious university.

  Lynn Carlson is a resourceful fine art generalist with a record of success. Whether she’s teaching, directing a board or advising a business, Mrs. Carlson uses her solid background in the humanities to help others make connections and choices through art. Mrs. Carlson has an M.A. in studio art and an M.S. in valuation science. Her strong analytical, research and presentation skills are sought by educational, community and business organizations.

  • Invited to lecture on Printmaking to the dealers of Colonial Antiques

  • On separate dates and in unique venues, lecture on Ceramics, Painting Printmaking and Mandala Making

  • Led the Chicago Cultural Center’s El Alma del Pueblo GALLERY WALK

  • Developed the on-line course Art for Children for Columbia College of Missouri

  • Served on McHenry County College’s Creative Problem Solving Committee and led workshops for staff development

  • Answers whenever possible, calls to serve as art show judge

  
     
  Art Curator  
     
  Through her firm, Icon Centre Ltd and her business network of art and artists, Lynn Carlson works regularly as an art curator in an alternative gallery and on occasion as guest curator for conventional galleries. Curatorial work requires knowledge, passion, trust and work ethic. In addition to these, Mrs. Carlson has a reputation for not only getting the best available art to public view but bringing complementary artists together in an enduring show.

  Lynn Carlson has been exhibiting in the Chicago Area since 1983.  Early shows were of prints and intellectually driven drawings.  Recent years have produced a body of work best labeled conceptual.  (to the gallery)
